Istanbul, City of City of the World's Desire
Every year, people who travel to Turkey with us regret having to leave Istanbul so quickly. Indeed, in the four full days all of our scheduled tour itineraries permit, they hardly scratch the surface of this enchanting and beautiful city. So we have created a truly wonderful ten-day experience in this city. You will unpack only once in an elegant hotel nestled against the city walls.

In the ten days, you will see and experience all the great sites of the city-- some for the second time-- and then you will explore other parts of the city that most visitors do not ever see. You will become fully acquainted with Sinan, the great architect of the Ottomans whose buildings grace the city today; you will explore the city's Christian and Jewish heritage; you'll enjoy delightful parks and palaces, and become familiar with all the waterways that surround the city. Most importantly, you will also have plenty of time to relax and enjoy the city at your own pace.

This is a relaxing, thoughtful holiday in one of the world's most enchanting cities. Join us for ten wonderful days! This tour is available at any time of the year for private groups of two to twenty people. Costs will vary depending on group size and time. Please contact us to receive a comprehensive presentation of this tour.

Ankara, the capital of the Republic of Turkey, is also the second largest city in the country. A pleasant modern capital, Ankara houses one of the finest museums in the world. The Museum of Anatolian Civilizations houses treasures from every major archeological site in the country and it offers a seven millennium overview of the best that the civilizations of this country have created since prehistoric times. It displays one of the richest collections of artifacts dating from 5000 BCE to early Christian times. This visit will rank among the highlights of any trip to Turkey for those who go.

For all our tours, this museum offers a wonderful overview, as it is the first important stop on our tours of Western and Eastern Turkey. Ankara also has the Mausoleum of Ataturk, who created the modern republic out of the ruins of the Ottoman Empire at the end of the First World War. This tomb and plaza are the ceremonial capita of the modern republic, and it is the site of all major ceremonial events in the country. It is also a striking piece of architectural design.

Izmir is the third largest city of Turkey and its major Aegean port. Formerly known as Smyrna, the city was an important port for the Ottomans who referred to it as the city of infidels because its population of Christians and Jews outnumbered its Muslims. During the war of independence, Smyrna was burned to the ground. From its ashes grew the contemporary city of Izmir which is a very important commercial and military centre for the Republic. Izmir is the capital of the Aegean region of Turkey, and it centres a large and sophisticated tourist industry. Aegean resorts such as Cesme rely on the airport of Izmir to supply it with its Turkish and foreign visitors who are ready for sand sea and sun.
