Turkey’s Mediterranean Coast, called The Turkish Riviera offers some of the most enchanting vistas in the world. The coast is also full of history as it has been continuously inhabited since the beginnings of time.

This city, one of the jewels of Turkey’s riviera, has also become one of the premier tourist destinations in Europe. Its airport is the busiest in Turkey during the summer months as people from all over Europe come here to enjoy the special ambiance of Turkey’s Mediterranean Coast. This is a city of delightful quarters, wonderful beaches, and superlative restaurants.

All our tours use Antalya as a base for exploring Pamphylia and other sites. They provide at least three nights in Antalya giving travelers an opportunity to see all the sites and enjoy the unique ambiance of this delightful city.

Pamphyilia
The word means land of many tribes and it refers to the people who came to the fertile plain between the Taurus mountains and the sea after the Trojan wars. The most famous cities of Pamphylia are: Perge, Aspendos and Side.

The city was a major commercial centre of the Pamphylia. It was a port and trading centre. The city welcomed Alexander the Great when he came here. The Romans rebuilt and expanded the city and most of the ruins extant are from this period. This is one of the most handsome Roman ruins in Turkey.

Aspendos

Another important Pamphylian City rebuilt by the Romans, Aspendos has one of the finest classical Roman theatres in the world.

This fascinating and mysterious ruin was an immensely important strategic city during the classical era. It controlled access to the sea on a pass through the Taurus mountains and it has the distinction of being one of the very few cities of the world that has never been conquered. Alexander the Great, after a fruitless siege, gave up and the Romans simply made it a client sate. This ruin, high in the Taurus mountains, is incredibly interesting and photogenic.
